Final Walkthrough/Closing Date

So this afternoon was mine and Niki’s final walkthrough for our home.  We were informed that they received the COO (Certificate of Occupancy) which basically means that the home has passed inspection and is fit to be lived in.  Fortunately that also means that we have seven days to close.  We are SO EXCITED!

So naturally we have already selected a closing day.  Assuming that all goes well we will be closing next Tuesday, June 22nd 2010.  The purchase should be recorded on Wednesday and we should have keys and such on Thursday the 24th of June.  We’ll be doing some light moving probably every night after that and won’t try to do any of the big big stuff before the weekend of the 4th of July.  It all kind of depends on how well we get everything packed up between now and then.  Personally I know I have a ton of work to do still at my Dad’s house and we can’t even get to Niki’s room right now as it’s become the Wedding Gift Storage Center.

If you’re interested in helping us move we’d love to know and to have your help.  You can comment here or hit the call me button on the right side to contact me.

Little More on Our Home

Well we’re coming down to the wire here on our house, our Final Walk-Through is scheduled for this Tuesday (June 15th- Happy Birthday Mom and Melissa).  All of our needed documents have been submitted to the mortgage company and our finances are in order.  Assuming that all goes well with the mortgage underwriting and all construction finishing we should be closing with in the next 12 days.

We are still in need of a Refrigerator but simply need to go shopping for one, perhaps we’ll do that just after closing so we have a better idea of when it can be delivered.  We actually need a washer and dryer too but we will be storing/using Niki’s cousin’s set for a bit while we get settled. Thanks Kortnie and Braden for not having hook ups in your new place. ;)

While we are discussing appliances I’ll address the small disagreement that Niki and I have regarding the Refrigerator.  Having been an appliance salesman for a short time I have developed a little bit of an opinion.  It is my opinion and the opinion of everyone I’ve ever spoken to who has one that a French Door Fridge with a Bottom Drawer Freezer is the best for maximized space efficiency (still a full width refrigeration compartment with the ease of French doors or side by side while also accommodating full width freezer space).  Naturally with that opinion I would love to have one of those.  Niki, however, says she does not care for the what the French Door Bottom Freezer looks and prefers the side by side (Narrow Freezer on the left and narrow Fridge on the right).  It is also my opinion that in addition to the increased and better functionality of the French Door style they also look more…elegant is not the right word but neither is commercial, perhaps if there was a combination of the two it would suffice.  With all that said, we will be buying whatever Niki decides she likes the best and I’m completely content with that.

Anyway, now that I’ve said that we went back up to the house today and took some more pictures, not much has changed on the inside but…well…look for your self.
